Bottom Line: TripIt does a great job of automatically collecting and parsing your flight information and may be very helpful for interview season.  (This email is primarily intended for 2012, but other classes may be interested in giving it a shot as well.)
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to shoot out a quick email to remind everyone about TripIt as interview season approaches.  You can either forward your flight confirmation emails to TripIt (or even set it up to automatically check your Gmail if you're a gmail user), and it then takes all the relevant flight information and categorizes and collects it tidily one place.
Some cool things about TripIt:
  • Can be set to automatically grab the information from your Gmail, or you can easily forward your emails to them
  • Can be set to automatically export the flight information into your calendar (iOS, iCal, Google Calendar, and likely any other calendar you use)
  • Great iOS (iPhone / iPad / iTouch) app, as well as Web through your browser, and Android, BlackBerry, and Windows 7 (although I haven't tried them so I don't know how good they are)
  • Easy to share and collaborate on trips with others, or so your SO can put your flight info on their calendar if you need a ride
  • Mobile app has cool features like airport maps, your confirmation numbers, directions to and from the airport
  • Although a paid version is available, all the above features are totally FREE
There other other apps that serve similar functions, but this is just one that I've found very helpful over the last few years, and I thought I'd pass it on as 2012 starts setting out on the interview trail!  Let us know if you need any help getting set up or incorporating any of these features.

Good luck on interviews, 2012!
